2023 – now: PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), Utrecht University

  • With a consortium of scientists from NIOZ, RUG, TUD, and UU, we will investigate the past, current and future influence of the biologically productive North Sea on the Atlantic Ocean and ultimately the Earth's climate.

2020 – 2023: Master Earth, life and Climate, Utrecht University

  • Master's thesis Utrecht University: 'Reconstructing Decadal-Scale Climate Variability in High-Arctic Lake Sediments using two different X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) scanners'. (Supervisor: Wim Hoek)
  • Arctic Circle Assembly October 2022 in Reykjavik.
    • Oral presentation: 'Dramatic climate and environmental change in the Arctic: what can we learn from lake deposits?'
  • Participant in the multidisciplinary Science Expedition Edgeøya Svalbard (SEES) 2022.
  • Dutch Earth Sciences Congress (NAC) September 2022 in Utrecht. 
    • Poster presentation: 'Decadal climate variability in high Arctic Lake sediment records in East-Svalbard obtained by X-ray fluorescence core scanning method'. (second prize)
    • Oral presentation: 'Decadal variability southern North Sea pH: ocean acidification in reverse?'
  • Research at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) on Texel: 'The influence of biogeochemical processes on the long-term trend of pH along the Dutch coastal zone'. (Supervisor: Matthew Humphreys)
  • Fieldwork Geochemistry. The objective was to develop a restoration strategy for a Dutch lake to achieve good water quality status by reducing nutrient loading (project: https://h2020-p-trap.eu/).
  • Master education committee of the Graduate school of geoscience.
