Development studies scholar, policy analyst, and heterodox economist. Researches political economy, institutions, and late development in Southeast Asia and Latin America. Analyses structural change, resource governance and social policy. Experienced in research, teaching, training, organisational management and consultancies in international development. With field experience in the Philippines, Colombia, Brazil and Thailand. 

Prior to joining the UCU, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), exploring the political economy of externally-financed social protection. She previously taught at the ISS, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of Bath, Leiden University College, and Wageningen University. At the LSE, she was also a Research Associate at the Crisis States Research Centre, where she examined state-building and resource mobilisation in fragile and failed states. She has more than 15 years of experience as a development practitioner in non-government organisations and multilateral agencies working in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

Dr Ramos is the UCU Economics Fellow, and is affiliated with the Utrecht University School of Economics Applied Economics Section.
