Blake is a PhD candidate in Global Governance and Innovation for Earth and Space Sustainability as part of the Innovation Studies and Environmental Governance sections of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. As part of the five-year research program (2024-2029) on ‘Planetary Stewardship in View of Earth-Space Sustainability’ (PLANETSTEWARDS), led by Principal Investigator Dr. Xiao-Shan Yap and supported by a 1.5 million euro European Research Council (ERC) starting grant, her research seeks to analyze and compare current stewardship approaches to the sustainability problems of our changing activities in outer space, charting a new ‘Earth-Space’ paradigm for research and policy. In particular, her research investigates the relations between Earth and space sustainability challenges with a key focus on power relations and implications for multiplanetary justice in the New Space era.

She has conducted research on justice and equity in global climate change governance, investigating the hegemonic discourses within scientific research on solar geoengineering and hypothetical large-scale climate intervention, combining critical justice perspectives to provide policy and research recommendations to advance pluralistic climate futures. As previous Network Coordinator of the Earth System Governance Project, she mobilized the largest research network aiming to advance knowledge at the interface between global environmental change and governance.
