Aline Carvalho is a phD candidate at Rio de Janeiro Federal University (Brazil). She is in Utrecht University as phD guest researcher to develop part of her thesis in collaboration with the bio-based energy group. Her main research interest is the impact of energy transition and climate change on the oil and gas industry. She acted as Project Engineering on the design of a Refinery Plant built in Brazil between 2013 and 2015. Her latest projects were to evaluate options for existing refineries to reduce carbon emissions from their operations. Her research objective is to develop a technical, economic, and logistical analysis to define elements needed for a repurpose of refinery assets and to propose measures for this sector to adapt in the Energy Transition.
