Dr. Anae Sobhani is an assistant professor in the Department of Human Geography and Spatial Planning in Utrecht University. Her research focuses on mobility and health. Dr. Sobhani received her Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from McGill University in 2016.


Before joining Utrecht University, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Delft University of Technology (2017-2018), Transport and Logistics group, Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management. Her research at TU Delft focused on Moral Discrete Choice Theory which is part of the BEHAVE-research program (ERC Consolidator Grant). Also, Dr. Sobhani was a postdoctoral associate at University of Polytechnique de Montreal (2015-2017), Laboratory of Innovations in Transportation (LITrans), where her research was dedicated on advanced urban behaviour models. During her studies, she worked as a consultant in private firms and municipalities to enrich her skills as a planner and engineer in practice.


Dr. Sobhani is a member of the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation (CIRRELT), and the Québec network for research in road safety. She is a supporter of open science for many reasons, both from a philosophical and moral point of view, and from a practical point of view.
