The recent refugee crisis has dramatically challenged European cohesion, generating social unrest and political tensions among Member States. Underlying this overall climate is the implicit belief that massive immigration generates negative economic outcomes for European citizens. This session explores ways in which Europe can deal with these challenges, including those of the COVID-19 pandemic. Is it possible to turn integrating refugees into an opportunity for European regions, especially for those who fear the most immigration?
