From 2000 until 2007 Annemeik Schlatmann studied Arabic language and Middle Eastern cultures at Utrecht University.
September 2008 she started her PhD research project on 'Shi'i religious rules for Muslims living in the West and how Shi'i Muslims apply these rules in the Netherlands'
