As a social psychologist in the Copernicus Insitute I am interested in how our physical and social environment influences our (un)sustainable decisions and behaviour.
Simply informing people about the consequences of unhealthy or unstainable behaviour often does not lead to a change in behaviour. In my research I study how the environment in which we make our decisions can help people change their behaviour. During my PhD I studied the boundary conditions of nudge interventions that aim at steering the public towards more healthy and sustainable choices. My current research focuses on under which circumstances people are willing and capable of taking responsibility for the long-term consequences of their food choices.

  • Where lies the tipping point between the desire for agentic decision-making and welcoming help?
  • How can we create climate change and health communication that stimulates (consumer) responsiblity?
