• 2015-2020: ASPASIA grant from the Dutch Research Conuncil (NWO)
• 2012: Environmental Health Perspectives Reviewer of the Year
• 2007 – 2010: VENI research fellowship from the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The impact of ambient air pollution on pregnancy outcomes.
• 2005: Doctoral students award (Doktorandenpreis) of the GSF – National Research Center for Environment and Health for the best doctoral thesis in 2004/2005.
• 2005 – 2007: Post-doc research fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Long-term effects of traffic-related air pollution on the development of respiratory, asthmatic and allergic symptoms in children.
• 2004: Travel scholarship for attendance of the annual conference of the American Thoracic Society, Orlando, FL, USA, from the German Research foundation (DFG).
