I studied Applied Mathematics at National Technical University of Athens in Greece and obtained diploma in 2006 and Master's degree in 2009. I did my PhD on Algorithms for Network Visualization also at National Technical University of Athens under the supervision of Antonios Symvonis. I defended my thesis in 2011 and before that spent half a year as a Visiting DAAD Scholar at the Department of Informatics at Tübingen University in Germany. I returned to Germany in 2012 as a postdoc, and worked till January 2020 at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Institute of Theoretical Informatics in the Algorithms Group, where I continued my research in Theoretical Aspects of Network Visualization and gradually opened up to experimental and emphirical methods in the field. In Karlsruhe I taught several subjects including Algorithms for Network Visualization, Computational Geometry as well as organized a seminar on Algorithmic Methods in the Humanities.  From February 2020 till August 2020 I worked on a research project “Mediating Machines? Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Peacemaking” funded by Volkswagen Foundation, at the Institute of Philosophy at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Since 2019 I serve as an associate editor of CGTA (Computational Geometry: Theory and Applications Journal) and since October, I am appointed as a co-editor-in-chief of CGTA. I have been a member of the program committees of several computer science conferences including: International Symposium on Graph Drawing & Network Visualization (GD), European Symposium on Algorithms (ESA), Innovations in Theoretical Computer Science (ITCS) and Canadian Conference on Computational Geometry (CCCG). My work has been awarded Best Poster and Best Paper awards at the International Symposium on Graph Drawing & Network Visualization. I have obtained multiple awards for my participation in the Graph Drawing Challenge and since 2019 I serve as a member of Graph Drawing Contest Committee.
