Sheida’s research is focused on the role of culture in psychology, taking into account different aspects, such as (online) behavior, emotion, cognition, and mental health. Her cross-cultural research includes children, adolescents, and adults within or between a variety of countries or cultures (China, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Morocco, the Netherlands, South Korea, and the USA). Sheida is particularly interested in cultural mechanisms and processes underlying psychological functioning. This knowledge provides insight on a) why cultural groups can differ behaviorally; and b) the psychological development of youngsters who grow up with more than one culture, including bicultural adolescents
