I am a social science researcher with an interest in identity development processes and the influence of the social cultural environment in such processes. My main fascination revolves around understanding how different people utilize their identity in the face of challenges or threats. I am also interested in combining different research methods and research disciplines to study how sociocultural factors interact with individual level factors to motivate attitudes and behaviors.

In my PhD research, I am part of a collaborative team that investigates the stereotypes of bureaucrats in various countries, including: the United States, the Netherlands, South Korea and Canada. We combine insights from public administration and social psychology to understand how such stereotypes may impact bureaucrats in terms of their work performance and motivation and how they subsequently cope with the effects of stereotyping.
