Welcome to my UU-webpage.

I am an assistant professor and my specializations are model selection, theory-based hypotheses, and cross-lagged relationships. Currently, I am specializing in multilevel continuous-time models which can facilitate extracting all the valuable information in Experience Sampling Method data [in which participants register their experiences (e.g., feelings or symptoms) multiple times a day for several consecutive days]. I received a VENI-grant (starting at December 2016), which enables me to extend current multilevel continuous-time models, such that they can model more practical situations, and also to develop hypotheses selection tools for such models.

I am working 10 years for Department of Methods and Statistics at University Utrecht. I am passionate about doing research in the field of (bio)statistics & psychometrics and of behavioural & social sciences, since there are a lot of statistical challenges I like to tackle and which in the end also contribute to society.

Under the tab CV you can download my CV and my publications can also be found under the tab Publications. Here you can find the post-prints of my first-author publications. Below you find the software I developed and which you can use (in turn for referring to my work in case of using it for a publication). Have fun and do not hesitate to contact me in case of questions.

Software for ANOVA models (Clarification)
This software can be used to compare group means. When you do not have hypotheses/expectations about the means on forehand, you should use Explanatory ANOVA. In case you do have, that is, you have theory-based hypotheses, then you should use Confirmatory ANOVA or the GORIC, where the GORIC can handle a broader range of hypotheses (i.e., all linear restrictions except for range restrictions).

Software for Multivariate Regression Models (Clarification)

Software for Regression Models with Missing data (Clarification)

Software for Combining Multiple Studies (Clarification)
This software can be used when you have multiple studies regarding one concept and you want to combine the evidence from all these studies regarding your hypothesis that there is a positive or negative (or no) effect. For example, one might be interested in whether the effect of past on trust (conditional on other variables) is positive, negative or non-existing. Notably, this concept does not need to be modeled the same in all the studies since we combine evidence (not effects).

I am an assistant professor (i.e., reseracher and teacher) at the Department of Methodology & Statistics at the Utrecht University.

My first line of research is a continuation of my PhD-projects. In this line, I developed a hypothesis-evaluation technique called GORIC. This led to several first-author publications in prestigious journals such as Biometrika and Psychological Methods. Furthermore, I have been invited to give ten presentations, for instance, at the national university medical center VUMC and for universities in Hannover.

I collaborated with Professor Silvapulle (Australia) on two publications. As a result, researchers contacted me, and I have established a network with researchers from Hannover, Canterbury, and Hasselt. This has rendered joint papers and software in the biostatistical field.
The GORIC-research is not only continued via my network, but also extended with the PhD-student whom I supervise. The PhD-student and I collaborate with substantive researchers (e.g., Professor Oldehinkel) as well.

I also started in a second research line: modeling cross-lagged relationships. My first publication in this field is again one in a prestigious journal: Psychological Methods. Moreover, Utrecht University awarded me research time for working in this research area. Furthermore, I am participating in the local research group led by Dr. Hamaker on multilevel time series models. Additionally, I have established connections with Professor Tuerlinckx, Professor Borsboom, and Professor Wichers, and I am participating in the Dutch-Flemish network group Time Series and Network Dynamics, consisting of psychometricians, statisticians and ‘empirical’ researchers.

I aim to bring both research topics together such that researchers can model individually-varying cross-lagged relationships (with a multivariate multilevel continuous-time model) and evaluate their hypotheses regarding these relationships.

Here you can find the post-prints of my first-author publications.
