Mateusz Platos is Assistant Professor in the Divisions of Developmental and Clinical Psychology at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

He combines developmental and clinical perspectives to study the experiences and well-being of neurodivergent individuals, with a particular focus on the autism spectrum. He seeks to understand how to support neurodivergent people to thrive at school, university, work, and in close relationships. He is interested in how neurodivergent youth and young adults navigate the social world and develop their own identities. 

Platos studied psychology and cultural studies at the University of Warsaw, where he also received his Ph.D. (cum laude) and worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Psychology. He gained fruther experience during a pre-doctoral internship at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at the University of California, Los Angeles. He joined Utrecht University in 2023.
