  • 2008 awarded a grant from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for excellent researchers (VIDI grant; 600.000 Euros). Project title: Improving statistical power in studies on event occurence by using an optimal design.
  • 2009 Aawarded a grant from Nijmegen Centre for Evidence Based Practice (Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre) to hire a PhD student. Project title: Improved methods for studies that compare the well-being of groups (‘clusters’) of elderly when there are only few clusters.
  • 2009 associate professor at Utrecht University, Department of Methodology and Statistics.
  • 2009-now Joint organizer of the biennial International Conference on Multilevel Analysis.
  • 2011 Joint organizer of a symposium on “Cost-efficient and optimal designs for social and biomedical sciences”. This symposium is financed by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. Joint organization with prof. dr. Martijn P.F. Berger and dr. G.J.P. van Breukelen, Maastricht University.
