After her bachelor training Molecular Life Sciences, Manoe Janssen continued with the masters Molecular Mechanism of Disease at the Radboud University Nijmegen. During her PhD at the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology she focused on the genetic mechanisms underlying polycystic liver disease and the somatic second hit mutations causing liver cyst formation. After completing her PhD she visited the Stem Cell Institute Leuven where she worked on the differentiation of embryonic stem cells. Currently she is working in Utrecht as part of a European consortium on rare genetic diseases, to find a better treatment for Cystinosis, a chronic disease leading to kidney failure in children.
