In 2013 won hij samen met twee promovendi (en andere begeleiders) drie awards. Met Sanne Elling en Menno de Jong won hij de de Best Paper Award for the best paper published in the IEEE PCS Transactions on Professional Communication voor het volgende artikel:

In 1998 won hij met Menno de Jong de Best Paper Award for the best paper published in the IEEE PCS Transactions on Professional Communication. In 2007 kreeg hij voor hetzelfde artikel een Landmark Author Award. Dat was een bekroning voor een van de beste papers in alle jaargangen van het tijdschrift.
