My research interest lay in understanding the molecular mechanisms that enable neurophysiological function both in the mature and developing brain. While molecules of all sorts allow brain cells to mediate their activity, proteins due to their intrinsic complexity play critical roles in a variety of cellular processes leading to brain function. Currently my research is focused on mechanisms of cell adhesion that are enabled by proteins expressed on neuronal cell surfaces.
