Geoloog, gespecialiseerd in het reconstrueren van plaattektonische, paleogeografische en paleo-milieu-geschiedenis om de co-evolutie van de Aarde en het leven op Aarde te begrijpen.

Onderzoeksgebieden: Caribisch gebied, Andes, subductiezones rond de Stille Oceaan (Mexico, Costa Rica, Nieuw-Zeeland, Japan), Nieuw-Caledonië, eilanden over de hele wereld.
