Katharina Meyerbröker is associate professor at the department of Clinical Psychology at Utrecht University since 2022 and before as an assistant professor. She is a member of the Experimental Psychology Lab in Utrecht (http://www.epplabutrecht.org/). Besides she works as a licensed mental health psychologist at Altrecht Academisch Angstcentrum (AAA). She is a registered cognitive behavioral therapist (VGCt) and supervisor and is a member of the VGCt committee aranging clinical congress of evidence based treatments to cognitive behavioral therapists in the field, trying to link science to mental health care. 

Her PhD project (2007-2011) at the University of Amsterdam focused on the efficacy of virtual reality exposure therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy in anxiety disorders, and on pharmacological ('cognitive enhancers') and cognitive mechanisms involved in these therapies. Since October 2011 she worked as a post-doc at the Department of Clinical Psychology of the University of Amsterdam. Her research focused on the efficacy of treatment for PTSD by means of trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy and EMDR and on the processes taking place during these treatments. 

Her main research interest is clinical research in trauma and anxiety-related psychopathology, using cognitive behavioral methods including advanced technology as virtual reality for treating anxiety disorders. She teaches psychopathology and CBT related courses in Bachelor and Master program at Utrecht University.
