Joep Keuzenkamp started his PhD in 2023 at the Utrecht University School of Economics. His main research interests are in the economic effects of the biodiversity crisis. The hypothesis that is central to his work is that the loss of biodiversity has a more severe impact on the global poor through a stronger dependency on ecosystem services.

Joep has an academic background in Econometrics (Bsc. and Msc.) and Spanish Language and Literature, majoring in Latin American Studies (Bsc.) at the University of Amsterdam. Before starting his PhD, he first worked on privacy-secure machine learning research as a developer, and second as a research associate conducting questionnaire-based research on national policies.
