Isik Girgiç is a PhD Researcher within the ERC Starting Grant Project PROBLEMSHIFTING at the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development. Following her graduation from Université de Tours with a degree in law, she obtained an LL.M. degree in Public International Law from Utrecht University with a specialization in international environmental law and international law of the sea. Before joining PROBLEMSHIFTING, she worked as a junior researcher with the Netherlands Institute for the Law of the Sea (NILOS), where she was involved with the ERC Project SUSTAINABLEOCEAN and the NWO Project 'Safeguarding the effectiveness of the judiciary’s role in legal regime for the oceans: charting a course between judicial restraint and judicial activism'

Isik is also the manager of the Task Force on Earth System Law under the broader Earth System Governance Network.

Her research interests include regime interaction under global environmental law and governanace and law of international institutions.
