Since January 2023, I am an external member of the ESG (Environment Social and Governance) Board of Finco Fuel, a large fuel distributor that has the ambition to become a fully sustainable energy provider. By 2035, they aim to replace 80% of fossil fuels used in road, sea and inland shipping by renewable fuels. Together with other ESG board members from an NGO and the SER, my role is to be a  ‘critical friend’ and to advise on sustainability issues related to renewable fuels and GHG mitigation. In this way, I hope my scientific knowledge can contribute to accelerating the energy transition and avoiding sustainability trade-offs. The remuneration for this will be donated to nature conservation and climate mitigation projects.
