I am interested in the question of how political leaders, with different ideas and backgrounds, impact policymaking in times of crisis. 

In my PhD research, I built on insights from leadership theory, ideational theory, and crisis management theory and developed a novel approach to studying the role of EU leaders and their ideas in EU crises. My aim was to infuse European studies with a crisis-leadership approach to study the EU in an era of crises.

I'm trained in different qualitative methodological approaches, such as Discourse Network Analysis (DNA), Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA), and Comparative Cognitive Mapping (CCM).
