Benjamin Rin studied mathematics at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. After graduating with a B.A., he studied philosophy at the department of Logic and Philosophy of Science at the University of California, Irvine. In 2014, he defended his doctoral thesis on Mathematical Limits and Philosophical Significance of Transfinite Computation. He was subsequently a postdoc at the University of California, Irvine, before becoming a docent/onderzoeker (lecturer/researcher) at the University of Amsterdam, jointly between its Institute for Logic, Language, and Computation (ILLC) and Amsterdam University College (AUC). Since 2016 he is a universitair docent within the Theoretical Philosophy group in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Utrecht University. His research interests include logic, computability, and philosophy of mathematics.
