Clinical psychology is a relational profession in which academic knowledge and ongoing personal and relational reflexivity are inseparable. In my teaching, research, and clinical practice, I aim not only to transmit knowledge, but - when ethically and contextually appropriate - to model an open, reflective engagement with mental health, value lived experience as a meaningful source of understanding, and contribute to normalizing conversations about mental wellbeing.

Teaching

I mostly teach Clinical Psychology courses with an international focus. My teaching emphasizes active, co-creative learning, reflection on professional identity, and the development of skills that are socially and professionally relevant. It aims to support students’ formation as reflective professionals who can act relationally, ethically, and with sound judgment in complex and uncertain practice contexts.

Connecting Science and Practice

My research explores everyday mental challenges such as grief and loneliness, aiming to strengthen mental health literacy and connect psychological science to societal relevance. Alongside my academic role, I work as a psychotherapist, maintaining close contact with clinical practice and integrating these insights into teaching and research.

Student Wellbeing

I am actively involved in student wellbeing at faculty and university levels, serving on the Student Wellbeing Taskforce and as Student Wellbeing Officer for the Faculty of Social Sciences. I am particularly interested in co-creative initiatives that integrate wellbeing into the curriculum rather than treating it as an optional add-on.

Background

I am an international alumna of Utrecht University (Neuropsychology), completed my psychotherapy training at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, and conducted research as a visiting scholar at Harvard University. With almost twenty years of professional experience, I continue to engage deeply in my work while attending to personal wellbeing and remaining open to ongoing learning and adaptation.
