My biomedical research focusses on the effector immune response of cytotoxic cells and how the immune system can eliminate cancer cells or virus-infected cells. We use this knowledge to improve (cancer) immunotherapy, e.g. to develop novel nanomedicines that mimic effector phase immunity to target cancer and viruses in humans. These aims fit within the UMC Utrecht focus areas Cancer and Immunity & Infection, and the UU strategic theme area Life Sciences.
