Research
As an immunopharmacologist, Kraneveld is focusing her research on microbes-host and neuro-immune interactions in chronic (inflammatory) conditions as target for medicines and medical food concepts. In a multidisciplinary way the Kraneveld team investigates in depth chronic inflammatory diseases and CNS disorders to further enhance our knowledge of the interaction of (intestinal) microbiome, innate and adaptive mucosal immune and nervous systems. Since 2010, Aletta Kraneveld has set up a research group within Utrecht University, where strong collaborations with several industries and patient organizations is part of. The program is a (inter)national neuro-immune platform where academia and industry meet. In collaboration with the faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Aletta Kraneveld’s research focuses on studies regarding (early life) gut health and immune fitness to reduce the use of antibiotics in farm animals.
