Willem Koops (1944), at present emeritus  University Professor, studied psychology at Groningen University, and was during 1971-1981 attached to this University as assistant and associate professor Developmental Psychology. He got his Ph D at Groningen in 1980 and moved then to the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam as professor of Developmental psychology (1981-2000). In th eyear 2000 he moved to Utrecht University to occupy the position of Professor of Developmental Psychology. He became "University Professor" in 2007 ("History and Foundations of Developmental Psychology and Education"). He fullfilled the task of Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences during 2002-2012. Koops published more than 60 (edited) books and special issues and over 300 papers in scientific journals. He is Fellow of the American Psychologial Society, the Association for Psychological Science and of the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development.
