Frank Wijnen graduated in experimental psychology in 1985 and obtained his PhD in Nijmegen in 1990 on a dissertation on language production processes in young children. He then held various postdoc positions in Utrecht and Groningen, including as a KNAW fellow. He has been working as a university teacher since 2002, later as a senior lecturer at the UU's Linguistics Department. In 2005, an appointment was made as endowed professor of Neurocognition of Language at the Department of Experimental Psychology at UU. Since 2009 he has been professor of Psycholinguistics at the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication of the Faculty of Humanities. He was director of the National Research School for Linguistics (2012-2015) and director of the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics OTS (2015-2020).

 

Frank Wijnen is a member of the editorial board of the scientific journals First Language and Language Development Research.
