I am a trained pharmacist and biomedical researcher with an ultimate goal of enhancing the translation of molecular-based knowledge from bench to bedside and assisting the development of more effective and safer drug/cellular therapies.

My basic academic and research interests lie in the development of a novel therapeutic intervention that can be used to treat patients suffering from renal insufficiency. Cystinosis, a severe monogenetic kidney disorder, presents itself early in life and has no clear-cut treatment options. I believe, gene therapy using designer nucleases like CRISPR/Cas9 can be utilized to repair a site-specific gene mutation and thereby used as a potential therapy for cystinosis.

Yet as a pharmacist, my research interests lie in drug safety and efficacy with particular emphasis on understanding the involvement of membrane transport, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics in the disposition of drugs in the human body.
