Dr. M. (Markus) Suta

Researcher
Condensed Matter and Interfaces

M. Suta studied Chemistry (M.Sc.) at the University of Siegen, Germany and completed a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry in Prof. dr. C. Wickleder's group there. His main research projects during that time included the synthesis of halides containing divalent lanthanides beyond Eu2+ such as, e.g. Sm2+, Tm2+ or Yb2+, and the investigation of their experimental optical spectra in conjunction with theoretical models. Moreover, he had worked on the optical properties of point bulk defects such as self-trapped excitons (STEs) or color centers. Those studies aimed at giving new fundamental insights into halide-based scintillating materials. In addition, he also studied Physics (M.Sc.) in Siegen and graduated on a generic approach to dynamical symmetries in (non-)relativistic quantum mechanics.

Currently, he works as a postdoc in the Condensed Matter and Interfaces group under the supervision of Prof. dr. A. Meijerink on the experimental and mechanistic investigation of luminescence nanothermometry in the framework of the EU-funded FET-Open project nanoTBtech (grant agreement no.: 801305). Besides, he is particularly interested in fundamental problems in luminescence spectroscopy and non-trivial inorganic synthesis techniques.
