Assistant Professor
Experimental Psychology

Marnix Naber investigates how perception and cognition affects human behavior and fysiology, and how these interact with each other. He applies a variety of neurophysiological, psychophysical, and psychological methods for his scientific research, including pupillometry, eye tracking, action units, heart rate (ECG, pulse oximetry, rPPG), electroencephalography (EEG), reaction times, questionnaires, and performance.

Valorisatie projecten:

  • Hartslag (variabiliteit) kan via een webcam gemeten worden door huidbewegingen te detecteren met verfijnde computer vision technieken.
  • A person's interest, motivation, confidence, and stress-resilience can be determined objectively by analyzing facial behavior with artificial intelligence and computer vision algorithms.
  • Pupil perimetry can be used as an objective measure of visual sensitivity of elderly and children with visual field defects (scotoma's, hemianopsia, etc.) or attention disorders (neglect) due to neural damage.

Wetenschappelijke bevindingen/ontwikkelingen:

  • Physiology, including pupil size, eye movements, muscles movements, and heart rate, reflect mental states and intentions.
  • Tagging pupil responses with visual changes measures the degree of attention and perceptual sensitivity for stimuli.
  • How and where in the brain does the brain control visual consciousness?
  • People imitate each other for learning rather than social purposes.
