Britta Schilling is Associate Professor (UHD) of Cultural History. She is the author of Postcolonial Germany: Memories of Empire in a Decolonized Nation (Oxford University Press, 2014) as well as numerous articles on (comparative) histories of colonialism, memory and material culture. Schilling was educated in History and Art History at Brown, Rutgers and Oxford Universities and was awarded a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at Cambridge University for research on colonial architecture in sub-Saharan Africa. She has been a fellow at the Netherlands Institute of Advanced Study and is currently researching the long shadow of empire in international business and development in the Cold War era, funded by an NWO Aspasia grant.
