Studievereniging Suus

Suus is the study association for students of the HPS and SEC master's programs. We organize academic and social events that are relevant to students with an interest in science that goes beyond just doing science itself. Our aim is to build a bridge between the two different student populations of the Freudenthal Institute and to provide our members with the social background against which their academic lives could be placed. If you would like to become a member, you can do so via this form . This is our website . For other questions, please contact us at suus@uu.nl

Why are we called Suus?

Suus Freudenthal-Lutter was an educational scientist and science communicator to whom Hans Freudenthal was married. The association is named in honor of its efforts in promoting science education and rethinking the possible ways in which education can be involved in the communities in which it is delivered. Praised for her work in developing and spreading Jenaplan education in the Netherlands, however, her work in influencing her husband to shift his efforts from pure mathematics to the field of mathematics education deserves at least as much credit. We hope that the name also brings attention to the many other forgotten women in the history of science and science in general. Behind every large institute there is an even larger study association.
