About our research

All research activities of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences are carried out within the Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS). But as can be seen in the figure we intensively collaborate with other departments, faculties, clinics, industries and organisations.

Its mission is to carry out high-quality fundamental research in the pharmaceutical sciences. Specifically, to perform conceptual research focused on the discovery, development, and use of drugs. In addition, research scientists are trained in the field of the pharmaceutical sciences within the UIPS.

Ever since our start in 1992 we focused on the more complicated drugs, Future Medicines: Advanced and Affordable Biomolecular and Cellular Therapies. But people, bright minds, are of course central to our ambitions. Meet some of our researchers in these interviews:

The Utrecht Institute for Pharmaceutical Sciences consists of five divisions:

Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics
Pharmaceutics
Pharmacoepidemiology & Clinical Pharmacology
