Ongoing projects

Three missions with one stone: the road towards circular green hydrogen production (2023-2027)

This interdisciplinary project aims to develop a cradle-to-cradle electrolyzer system for green hydrogen production, integrating material and chemical engineering sciences with innovation systems and circular economy principles. More.

PUSH-IT (2023-2027)

The Piloting Underground Seasonal Heat Storage In geothermal reservoirs (PUSH-IT) project is a Horizon Europe consortium that aims to develop large-scale heat storage solutions to make solar and geothermal heating available all year round. More.

PICASSO (2021-2025)

This project aims to identify transformation processes needed for achieving a large set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and key synergies and trade-offs among SDG indicators. More.

DOSTA

This project examines offshore energy storage options and alternative methods to transport electricity and/or hydrogen to shore and their feasibility for implementation in the Dutch North Sea. More.

Apartment Building Batteries for Energy Management (Apt-Bat)

Apt-Bat is developing a scalable and affordable solution that can enable upscaling of the use of renewable energy in apartment complexes and the reduction of peak loads on the electricity grid. More.

CHAPLIN-XL (2020-)

CHAPLIN-XL is constructing "bioasphalt" test strips, where the fossil component of asphalt—bitumen—is replaced by lignin, an important part of plants and trees. The aim is to develop knowledge to upscale the use of bioasphalt in roads, so that construction becomes greener, biogenic carbon can be stored, and we become less dependent on oil. More.

Past projects

REINVENT: Realising Innovations in Transitions for Decarbonisation

The REINVENT developed an evidence-based framework to assess implications of future EU decarbonisation policy and in the medium- (2030) and long-term (2050), focusing on focuses on plastics, steel, paper and food. More.
