The CMI group investigates the relation between the atomic structure of (low-dimensional) materials and their electronic, optical, magnetic and superconductive properties. The research includes material synthesis, structural characterization, several methods of optical, electrical and magnetic microscopy and spectroscopy combined with first-principles theory and simulations.

Condensed Matter and Interfaces is part of the Debye Institute at the Utrecht University.
