Cookie statement

The UU uses Google Analytics to measure statistics and interactions (such as opening a page or clicking on a link) of our website visitors. For this we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The information collected by the cookies is transferred to the United States and stored there on Google servers. The UU has signed a data processing agreement with Google to facilitate this processing activity.

Google Analytics has been implemented in accordance with the requirements of the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) and the Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP). This means that we use the cookies to count visitors and approximate the location of our website visitors. In the event of changes to the requirements of the ACM and AP, the UU will make the necessary adjustments.

When visitors interact with our website, we keep track of (among other things): the number of visitors; statistics (for example, which pages someone visits within the UU website); estimated geolocation (at the level of the city or town); browser and device data.

In Google Analytics 4, we store your data for 14 months. In order to make a good analysis of website data, it is important to be able to compare data with a few months ago. For example, we can measure the result of a certain website adjustment and we can identify longer-term trends. For more information, see the website of Google.

To give future students the opportunity to get in touch with our current students, we offer the possibility to chat via the Unibuddy system. This service is offered on our bachelor's and master's sites.

In order to be able to display the Unibuddy widget, functional cookies are placed when you visit the page. If you want to use Unibuddy, additional, non-functional cookies can be placed. When you decide to create an account with Unibuddy so that you can chat with our students, you will be informed what additional information is being processed and additional cookies will be placed. This allows for functionalities such as logging in, navigating through the Unibuddy widget and recording preferences (for example your desired study or language).

The UU uses the platforms YouTube and Vimeo to show videos on our website. The UU uses the so-called Privacy Enhanced Mode of YouTube and Do Not Track (dnt) mode of Vimeo, which means that no cookies are placed, no personal profiles are created and no recommendations are shown based on your viewing history.
