Ted Sanders appointed Vice-Dean of graduate education Humanities

Prof. Ted Sanders has been appointed Vice-Dean of graduate education of the Faculty of Humanities as of 1 September 2016. He will succeed Prof. Bert van den Brink, who will become Dean of University College Roosevelt in Middelburg as of 1 August 2016.

Ted Sanders (1963) has been Head of the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication since 2013. Previously he was Head of the departments of Modern Languages and Dutch (2012). Since 2003 he is Professor of Dutch language use and discourse studies at Utrecht University. Together with colleagues he established the renewed Master's programme Communicatie en organisatie. He also taught at various universities abroad.

In his research, conducted at the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics (UiL OTS), he specialises in coherence in discourse. Since 2011 Ted Sanders is Chair and co-founder of the national programme Comprehensible Language and Effective Communication of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO). He was awarded several subsidies for research projects, including an NWO-VICI in 2005. In 2007 he was a visiting researcher at the Department of Linguistics and the Institute for Cognitive Studies of the University of California at Berkeley.

Els Stronks appointed Head of Department

Prof. Els Stronks will succeed Ted Sanders as Head of the Department of Languages, Literature and Communication as of 1 September 2016. She has been Professor of Early Modern Dutch Literature since 2011.
