Financial matters

There are three main costs that you need to consider when planning your studies at University College Utrecht: tuition fees, the costs of your accommodation or the ''campus fee'', and your personal daily expenses. On this page you will find more information about each of these costs, and possibilities for financial support.

Tuition fees

University College Utrecht has two types of tuition fees:

  • For students that are EEA-citizens (European Economic Area) and citizens from Switzerland and Suriname;
  • For students from other countries.

Tuition fees usually slightly differ over the years. For the most up to date information about tuition fees visit the 'Fees & Finances' page on our website.

Campus Fees

Next to the tuition fee, students pay a yearly campus fee for living on campus. The campus fee covers accommodation and utility costs (such as water and electricity), the use of campus facilities and the membership fee of the University College Student Association (UCSA). All students pay the same fee. A break down of the campus fees can also be found on the 'Fees & Finances' page.

Personal expenses and other costs

Going to university and the student lifestyle involves more costs than just tuition and accommodation fees. Consider personal expenses such as food, clothes, books, sports, insurance, and travel during the holidays. Non-EU/EEA students must also pay for a visa and/or residence permit.

It is difficult to predict exactly how much cost is involved, as spending habits and lifestyles vary. You can find more information about the average costs of living in Utrecht on Utrecht University’s general financial matters page.

Grants and Scholarships

University College Utrecht offers scholarships to both Dutch and international students who need financial support to cover the cost of their study. All international applicants can apply for a scholarship, non-EU/EEA and EU/EEA scholarship applicants are considered equally. Please check our admission procedure for information and deadline on scholarship applications.
