Employability Skills

As a tutor, you help students orient themselves towards the labour market. Students also find it important that the study programme pays attention to this. When they finish their studies, they want to feel that they not only know something, but that they can also do something that people in the field need. How can you ensure that students learn to recognise the skills they acquire during their studies and how to communicate these to others?

In this workshop we use a model that offers tools to make employability skills accessible to students. As a participant, you will first experience how you can chart your own employability skills and which ones you can develop further. Subsequently, the translation will be made to concrete assignments and work formats that will enable you to pay attention to the development of these employability skills as a tutor in an appealing manner.

At the end of the course:

• you can define what employability skills are
• you will be able to map out these skills with the aid of a model.
• you can design effective teaching methods that enable you to effectively pay attention to this theme in your own tutoring practice.

Tutors/lecturers, study advisors, study career counselors and Deans

Lecturers of Utrecht University can use O&T units (if available) or can otherwise participate at reduced rates. In either case in consultation with their own faculty.
