X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF)
In 2016, in cooperation with Deltares, a new Sequential X-ray Fluorescence Spectrophotometer was installed.
The instrument is an ARL Perform’X 4200W high performance WDXRF analyzer and is used for non-destructive elemental analysis. The instrument allows the measurement of up to 90 elements in a range from Beryllium to Americium in pressed pellets, fusion beads and liquids. A special calibration is made using approximately 150 certified geological standards, which makes it possible to measure a broad range of geological samples.
