Since 1 November Prof. Sonja de Leeuw (professor of Dutch television culture in international context) is a member of the scientific board of DARIAH-EU, which is housed in Berlin. DARIAH-EU stands for Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities: a large European research infrastructure which aims to enhance and support digitally-enabled research and teaching across the humanities and arts.

De Leeuw has been asked for this position because of her European experience at the intersection of digitized archival material and humanities, as well as her experience in various Digital Humanities projects in collaboration with Computer Studies. Among other things, she has led the European project 'EUscreen, Exploring Europe's Television Heritage in Changing Contexts', which offers free online access to thousands of items of audiovisual heritage from various countries. Since September 2015 De Leeuw is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Danish inter-university Digital Humanities Lab (DIGHUMLab DK).
