Graduate School of Life Sciences

This Graduate School organises all Utrecht Master's and PhD programmes that focus on micro-organisms, plants, animals, humans, the molecules of life, and health & disease. Training and education for Master's and PhD students is combined, thus incorporating theory and practice at both levels. This allows overall quality control and consistency.

Strong international reputation through unique combination

The expertise and education facilities of the Faculties of Science (Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy) and Social & Behavioural Sciences (Psychology) are combined with the fundamental and clinical research and education of the Faculties of Medicine (University Medical Center Utrecht) and Veterinary Medicine.

This combination is unique in the Netherlands and has gained a strong international reputation in biomedical and life sciences research. All PhD and Master's programmes are linked to renowned Utrecht research areas.
