Knowledge exchange with Japan confirmed

Sport & Society signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Universiteit of Tsukuba

During the Dutch economic mission to Japan, Sport & Society (focus area of Utrecht University) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Universiteit of Tsukuba (UoT). In presence of Minister Schippers both partners confirmed that they will intensify staff and student exchange.

Sport & Society and UoT have developed a sustainable relationship in the last two years. UoT is one of the leading Japanese universities with regards to sport management and sport for development. On top, UoT is official partner of the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo and takes part in the so-called Sport for Tomorrow Legacy Program.

One of the main issues of the collaboration between Sport & Society and UoT is the development of a global master on Sport for Development. On the same day as the signing of the MoU took place, the Japanese and Dutch government confirmed their future collaboration on ‘sport science’, as published by NOS (in Dutch).

UoT reports on their website about the MoU signing: Partnership Agreement with Utrecht University in the Netherlands.
