Hans Clevers, professor in Molecular genetics at Utrecht University, receives The McEwen Award for Innovation together with Irving Weissman (Stanford). The researchers receive the award for original thinking and ground-breaking research on stem cells and regenerative medicine that opens new avenues of exploration towards the understanding or treatment of human disease or affliction. The researchers receive 50.000 dollar each.

The winners will be honoured with the award at the Presidential Symposium of the International Society for Stem Cell (ISSCR) Annual Meeting, June 24, in Stockholm, Sweden.

This study is closely related to Utrecht University’s strategic research theme Life Sciences, under the research domain Regenerative Medicine & Stem Cells, which focuses on finding better ways to repair tissue, restore function or replace cells in order to cure previously untreatable conditions.
