An experience festival inspired by the inability or inability to hear sound properly, that is Sencity. Utrecht University will also be present with mini lectures. What can you expect at the festival?

Going crazy together

During Sencity, the deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people meet each other to go crazy together. Music, art and science are programmed and organised so that the experience is the same for everyone, regardless of your hearing. Think performances with a vibrating floor and a scent jockey, and scientific talks with subtitles and sign language interpreters. The upcoming edition takes place on Saturday 6 April in TivoliVredenburg and is entirely dedicated to the ideal world for a day.

Science Lab x Utrecht University

A recurring feature during Sencity is the Science Lab: a mini-lecture in which scientists explain the theme of the evening from the perspective of their research field. Utrecht University's Centre for Science and Culture advises Sencity on this. This year, philosopher Dr Naomi van Steenbergen takes visitors into the world of climate ethics. How far should you go for a liveable future? Social scientist Onur Sahin researches diversity and inclusion. What if you look at society through the eyes of the minority?

Are you a researcher and would you like to contribute to next edition? Then email programme manager Tessa de Vries via t.devries2[at]uu.nl.
