Expertise

Marloes Kleinjan works as professor of Youth Mental Health Promotion at Utrecht University and as program head of the Youth & Wellbeing program at the Trimbos Institute. She is involved in several large national studies on youth mental health and substance use. She also works on various prevention and intervention projects in the field of mental health and substance use.

Inspiration and mission

How are youth doing in the Netherlands? That is a question that concerns Marloes Kleinjan. In her research she tries to unravel the working mechanisms of youth mental health and substance use. The search for risk and protective factors of mental health is an important part of this. With her research she wants to contribute to the development of an effective mental health and prevention policy.
