Elon Heijmans is a postdoctoral researcher in Anchoring Innovation, the research agenda of OIKOS (the National Research School in Classical Studies in the Netherlands), and is interested in the archaeology and history of the eastern Mediterranean (specifically the Greek world and the Levant) from the Late Bronze Age down to the Classical period. His doctoral research at Tel Aviv University was focused on the early history of money use – before the introduction of coinage – during the Iron Age (ca. 1200–600 BCE). His current research deals with the introduction of coinage in the Greek world.
